Broil King Baron 490 burner tubes

Baron 490 uses dual-tube stainless mains (OEM 52909-class on many 330/440/550-related diagrams). Count four dual tubes; do not install single-pipe Nexgrill 1-inch kits.

Clean versus clogged burner ports Left tube shows even open ports and a blue flame sketch. Right tube shows grease-clogged ports and a yellow uneven flame. BURNER TUBE · PORTS CLEAN Even blue cones. Every port open. CLOGGED Grease in the holes. Yellow, lift, dead spots. Ream with a bit smaller than the port. Do not drill oversized. Brass brush the row. Keep liquid out of the venturi / inlet. If the tube wall is lace under the ports, replace the set — do not patch holes.

Broil King Baron 490 (including 490S NG/LP suffixes such as 9225-87 on some parts lists) uses dual-tube stainless mains, not a single 1” Nexgrill pipe. Genuine dual-tube burners on related 330/440/550 families are listed around 52909-104 (NG vs LP shutter setting differs: LP ~1/3 open, NG ~2/3). We do not pin an ASIN. Search Broil King Baron 490 dual tube burner and match the photo to the casting in your box.

Flavorizer length is series-specific. Crown 400 parts are not automatic Baron parts.

Procedure

  1. Plate: Baron 490 / 490S plus fuel. Photograph all four dual tubes and the collector box.
  2. Tank off. Grates and flavorizers out.
  3. Release rear hardware. Dual tubes are heavier than box-store pipes — support them so you do not bend the orifice.
  4. Note air-shutter position before you remove the tube. Restore LP vs NG opening on the new part.
  5. Sky-check both barrels of each dual tube. One barrel perforated → replace that burner.
  6. Dry-fit. Both inlets must swallow their orifices together. A single-pipe “universal 4-burner” kit will not.
  7. Reinstall. Collector/electrode 10342-E13-class is a separate igniter job if spark is the complaint.
  8. Soap. Lid open. Light each of four. Yellow on one barrel: ports or a shutter left closed.

FAQ

What burner does a Broil King Baron 490 take?

A dual-tube stainless main, often 52909-class on related diagrams. Confirm the Baron 490 exploded view. Single 14-7/8” Nexgrill tubes are the wrong geometry.

Why search-only?

No live Amazon listing pinned whose title is clearly Baron 490 dual-tube OEM. BBQGuys search is the safer path.
