A 20 lb cylinder can feel “heavy” and still be empty of usable vapor in cold weather, or the excess-flow device in the regulator can be tripped so every burner looks dead. This is not the same as yellow flames on one tube. Full regulator procedure: gas grill regulator reset.
Procedure
- Weigh or shake the tank. Near-empty tanks hiss briefly then die. Truly empty → refill/exchange.
- If the tank is known full and all burners are tiny blue or dead after a fast valve-on: assume excess flow.
- Knobs OFF. Disconnect tank. Open a burner knob 5 seconds to bleed, close it.
- Reconnect hand-tight. Open the tank valve very slowly (count to ten).
- Wait 30–60 seconds. Light one burner on low with the lid open.
- If flames are normal, open the rest slowly. If still dead with a full tank: soap the hose / regulator for leaks, then consider a new regulator hose — search-only.
- One burner dead, others fine: not the tank — ports or a tube off the orifice.

FAQ
Can a full tank still starve the grill?
Yes — tripped excess flow, frozen vapor withdrawal in extreme cold, or a clogged OPD. Reset and warm the tank outdoors before condemning the regulator.
Is this a spider nest?
Spiders usually kill one burner or cause flashback. All burners weak points to tank/regulator first.
