Clean versus clogged burner ports Left tube shows even open ports and a blue flame sketch. Right tube shows grease-clogged ports and a yellow uneven flame. BURNER TUBE · PORTS CLEAN Even blue cones. Every port open. CLOGGED Grease in the holes. Yellow, lift, dead spots. Ream with a bit smaller than the port. Do not drill oversized. Brass brush the row. Keep liquid out of the venturi / inlet. Carryovers on rebuild kits are usually adjustable 5–9.5”. Nexgrill 14-7/8” × 1” tubes (720-0830H ) will not seat on this orifice. Performance G470 17.75” tubes are a different cart.
Procedure
Photograph tubes, pins, electrode clips, and carryover length.
Tank off. Grates and Advantage tents out.
Straighten cotters. Slide 5/8” inlets off brass. Do not bend orifices.
Sky-check. Extra holes → scrap. Nest you cannot extract: spiders then replace if packed.
Dry-fit four 14-3/8” tubes. Inlet fully on; pin hole lines up without stretching.
Set adjustable carryovers so they actually bridge. Too-short carryovers are a common kit complaint — extend them.
Electrode gap. Tents. Grates.
Soap. Lid open. Light each of four, then the side burner.
