Pro Series 22 is an older AC Traeger. The igniter is a ~3.5” 200W cartridge in the KIT0088 / BAC199 family with a Molex plug — not the D2 KIT0255 rod used on Pro 575/780. We do not pin a 6”/8” Amazon part; live OEM rods we checked were not sold that way.
Related: generic Traeger hot rod, Pro 575.
Safety
- Unplug. Pot cold.
- Confirm AC controller (no WiFIRE D2) before buying DC parts.
Procedure
- Unplug. Remove grate, drip tray, baffle. Vacuum cold ash.
- Photograph rod depth (often 1/8–1/4” into the pile), set screw, and connector.
- Disconnect at the plug. Do not cut the harness.
- Loosen set screw. Slide rod out.
- Continuity check: infinite or near-zero → scrap.
- Install AC KIT0088-class rod to the same depth. Tug-test wires clear of the auger.
- Plug in. Start cycle — rod should glow.
- Ash cake around a good rod fails ignition — clean the pot first next time.
FAQ
Will a Pro 575 rod work?
No. Wrong controller family (DC D2 vs AC).
