Pro 575 is a D2 Direct Drive / WiFIRE cart. The igniter is a cartridge heater in the firepot, but it is not the old AC hot rod used on Pro Series 22/34. Listings that say “fits all Traeger except PTG” are usually the ~3.5” AC KIT0088 / BAC199 family. That is the wrong voltage family for a 575.
We did not pin a 6-inch or 8-inch Amazon part. Live Traeger OEM rods we opened were not sold as 6”/8” cartridges. Search BBQGuys and Amazon for Traeger Pro 575 hot rod / KIT0255-class and compare sheath length to the rod in your hand and to Traeger’s diagram for your serial.
Family procedure: Traeger hot rod. Pro 780 is a larger pot — do not assume the same rod.
Safety
- Unplug. Pot cold. No household vac on live embers.
- Confirm DC versus AC on the controller before you buy.
Procedure
- Unplug. Grate, drip tray, baffle out. Vacuum cold ash.
- Photograph the rod, the set screw, how far it protrudes (often only 1/8–1/4” into the pile), and the connector.
- Disconnect at the plug. Do not slice the harness.
- Loosen the set screw. Slide the rod out.
- Cool rod: finite resistance is healthy; infinite or near-zero is scrap.
- New rod: same depth, same connector family. Tug-test. Wires off the auger.
- Plug in. Start cycle. A healthy rod glows. If it does not, unplug and recheck.
Ash cake around a good rod fails ignition all summer. Clean the pot before you condemn the heater.
