Traeger Pro 780 hot rod

Pro 780 shares D2/WiFIRE logic with the 575 but not a guaranteed rod length. Unplug, measure the sheath, and do not install a Pro Series 34 AC hot rod or a guessed 6-inch part.

Pro 780 is the larger D2 sibling of the Pro 575. Same rule: unplug first. Different rule: do not assume the 575 rod is the 780 rod. Traeger’s parts diagram for this serial is the length authority. We did not pin a 6-inch or 8-inch Amazon ASIN — those lengths were not verified as current Pro 780 OEM.

Ironwood / Timberline WiFIRE pots are another family again.

Symptoms

Procedure

  1. Unplug. Cool. Grate, tray, baffle out. Vacuum dead ash.
  2. Photograph protrusion and the connector. 780 access is the same idea as 575 with more barrel in the way — do not lever the pot weld.
  3. Disconnect. Back out the set screw. Slide the sheath out.
  4. Meter the cool rod. Blistered sheath: scrap even if it still reads ohms.
  5. New rod to the same depth. Clamp without crushing. Route leads off the pot.
  6. Reassemble. Plug in. Watch for glow on a start cycle.

Search Amazon (Patio, Lawn & Garden) and BBQGuys for Traeger Pro 780 hot rod. Compare photos to the part in your hand. Universal “fits all Traeger” AC rods are the wrong chapter.
