Uneven heat — one burner cold
One cold zone is almost never the tank. Check the tent gap, clogged ports, a tube off its orifice, or a half-open valve.

Fig. — Burner tube: clean ports (left) versus clogged ports (right). Fig. — Firebox, top down: grates, flavorizer bars, burner tubes, electrode. Map the cold spot with an IR thermometer or toast test. All burners weak: tank vs regulator. One burner yellow: flame color.
Procedure
- Lid open. Preheat 10 minutes. Note which zone stays cool.
- Look under the grate: tent missing/shifted over that tube?
- Cold. Remove grate/tent. Shine along ports — black pinholes need cleaning.
- Confirm the tube inlet fully covers the orifice. Flashback smell → reseat or replace the tube.
- Valve only half open / stripped knob: fix the knob/valve before buying tubes.
- Spider nest in the venturi: spider webs.
- Metal lace in the tube: replace — measure first.
- Model pages via guides index / brand hubs.
