Clean versus clogged burner ports Left tube shows even open ports and a blue flame sketch. Right tube shows grease-clogged ports and a yellow uneven flame. BURNER TUBE · PORTS CLEAN Even blue cones. Every port open. CLOGGED Grease in the holes. Yellow, lift, dead spots. Ream with a bit smaller than the port. Do not drill oversized. Brass brush the row. Keep liquid out of the venturi / inlet. If the tube wall is lace under the ports, replace the set — do not patch holes.

Weber lists 68950 (LP) / 68951 (NG) burner tube kits for Spirit 310/315/320/325 series on current parts pages. SX-315 schematics use that kit plus a crossover (69413-class on some drawings). Aftermarket 69787 listings often claim Spirit 300 / Spirit II 300 — dry-fit electrode brackets and crossover shields before you keep the set.

Procedure

  1. Photograph plate (SX-315), three mains, crossover, and electrode.
  2. Tank off. Grates and five bars out.
  3. Release rear hardware. Slide tubes off orifices. Label positions.
  4. Sky-check. Clean ports if sound; replace if perforated.
  5. Dry-fit 68950/68951-class three mains + crossover. Inlet fully on brass.
  6. Electrode gap. Bars on. Grates on.
  7. Soap. Lid open. Light left and walk the crossover.
  8. Side burner: separate valve/electrode — not a fourth main tube from this kit.

FAQ

Is 68950 the same as 69787?

Weber’s 68950 kit is the current Spirit 310/315 LP naming; 69787 is the widely listed aftermarket/older Spirit 300 front-control set. Geometry is often close — still tape and dry-fit SX brackets.
