Traeger Ironwood 650 hot rod

Ironwood 650 is D2 / WiFIRE — use KIT0255-class DC igniter, not AC KIT0088. Confirm sheath length on the Ironwood diagram for your serial.

Ironwood 650 runs a D2 Direct Drive controller. Hot rod family is KIT0255-class DC — the same story as Pro 575, not Pro 22 AC. Measure the rod you remove; do not assume a “universal Traeger” AC cartridge.

Procedure

  1. Unplug. Empty the pot of cold ash.
  2. Photograph connector and protrusion depth.
  3. Remove rod. Continuity check.
  4. Install KIT0255-class DC rod to OEM depth.
  5. Wires clear of auger. Plug in. Glow test on startup.
  6. WiFIRE error codes: note the code before replacing controllers.
  7. Search-only for ASINs.
  8. Clean grease: Traeger liners.
